WHO:
TJ Kosinski is the brains and brawn behind The Citizen Insane. He's a journalist who's worked for the Los Angeles Times, FADER Magazine, The Tripwire, and WorkBook Project, but is now at New York Magazine. He's graduated with a Master of Science from the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism. During undergrad at Kalamazoo College, he majored in English and minored in Cryptozoology. He believes in Perkisizing, Polaroids, vinyl, and Oxford commas. He wants you to read his blog.
WHAT:
The Citizen Insane is music blog centered around the broader indie rock, electronic, and hip-hop genres. It's a blog with an eye on the future and a foot in the past, covering good music whether it was released in 2009 or 1979. All MP3s hosted are as properly tagged as possible, including album artwork, and are at least a bitrate of 192 kbps, unless otherwise noted. Any song, band, or album posted on here is always worth your time.
WHERE:
The Citizen Insane started out in metro-Detroit, moved Kalamazoo, temporarily operated out of Los Angeles, and is now located in Brooklyn.
WHEN:
The Citizen Insane is updated as often as humanly possible, given life, grad school, work, friends, girlfriends, the Stanley Cup playoffs, family, concerts, ghosts, hangovers, vacations, Wi-Fi availability, and laziness.
WHY:
This blog isn't about liking a band first or posting MP3s weeks before Pitchfork does. It was created to spread the word about artists I like and to share good music with everyone. Anything you read on here is a labor of love, backed by a passion for writing.
HOW:
If you need to contact the site for any reason whatsoever, please send all questions, concerns, comments, and threats to tj@thecitizeninsane.com.
